The Systems Architecting and Engineering (SAE) Program seeks to fill a tenured/tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. An autonomous academic program within the USC Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering; the SAE program seeks an individual with excellent academic credentials, an interdisciplinary perspective, and relevant industrial background who can lead the program’s research efforts in complex systems. In addition to teaching courses in SAE, the selected candidate must be able to develop an externally funded research program of national prominence. The ability and willingness to establish research programs with industry, federal sponsors, and other disciplines within the University are important. Participation in research with the USC Center for Systems and Software Engineering (CSSE) is expected. A joint appointment with one of the other Viterbi School of Engineering departments affiliated with the SAE Program is likely.
The program offers an interdisciplinary masters degree in SAE with participation from over 300 students and 20 companies, including major participation from the Boeing Corporation. A special, interdisciplinary doctoral degree is planned. The System Architecting and Engineering Program faculty includes 4 INCOSE Fellows, more than any other university or industrial organization, and its instructors collectively have over 200 years of industrial experience. More detail on the SAE Program is found at http://den.usc.edu/programs/sae.
