WTS (formerly the Women's Transportation Seminar) Los Angeles Chapter 2008 Scholarship Applications Are Due October 3

The Ava Doner Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 by the Los Angeles Chapter of WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation or a related field. The scholarship honors Ava Doner, who was a role model and mentor to many women in the transportation industry. She was a pioneer in business with a long and illustrious career as president and founder of Engineering Associates. The Ava Doner Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship is in the amount of $5,000. In addition, WTS LA will award a second scholarship in the amount of $3,000. Applications are due Friday, October 3, 2008.
This is the inaugural year of the Marylin Jorgenson Reece Memorial Scholarship, which has been established by the Los Angeles Chapter of WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation engineering, planning, or a related field. These first and second year scholarship undergraduate scholarships honor Marylin J. Reese, who was a pioneering role model for many women in the transportation industry. She was the first woman in California to receive her Professional Engineering license, and had a long career with the California Department of Transportation. The Marylin J. Reese Memorial Undergraduate Scholarships are in the amount of $2,000. One will be awarded to a first year undergraduate, and a second will be awarded to a second year undergraduate. Applications are due Friday, October 3, 2008.
The Myra L. Frank Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 by the Los Angeles Chapter of WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation. The scholarship honors Myra L. Frank, who was a instrumental in founding the Los Angeles Chapter of the Women's Transportation Seminar (now WTS) and who was active in the organization for over 25 years. The Myra L. Frank Memorial Graduate Scholarship is in the amount of $5,000. In addition, WTS LA will award a second scholarship in the amount of $3,000. Applications are due Friday, October 3, 2008.
