January 24, 2005 — Jennifer Lynn Russell, a doctoral student in the Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is the 2005 recipient of WTS National’s highest academic award. Jennifer will be presented with the $6,000 Helene M. Overly Memorial Graduate Scholarship at the WTS National Conference in May in Scottsdale, AZ. WTS, formerly the Women's Transportation Seminar is a 3,600-member national association of women and men committed to advancing the role of women in the transportation industry.
Jennier is also a November 2004 WTS-Los Angeles scholarship recipient. After graduating with honors from the U.S. Military Academy, Jennifer served as a transportation officer in the U.S. Army, performing strategic air, rail, highway and sea transportation planning and analysis for contingency and crisis operations of the U.S. Armed Forces in Europe. She is a recent Eno Transportation Foundation Fellow and received the 2004 National Metropolitan Transportation Research Center’s Student of the Year Award. Jennifer is the first Los Angeles candidate to win a WTS national scholarship in the last 8-10 years.
