The Slavic
Dept. is pleased to present Dr. Elena Barkhatova (Curator of Prints and Drawings,
National Library of Russia, St.
Petersburg), who will speak (in Russian) on: "Visualizing Russia: Broadsides,
Posters and Photographs in the Special Collections of the National Library,
St. Petersburg" on Friday, October 10, at 2:00 pm in GFS 340 (Institute
of Modern
Russian Culture). The Saltykov Shchedrin National Library in St. Petersburg
is the oldest and largest library of rare books, periodicals and visual materials
in Russia Author of many books, catalogs and articles, Dr. Barkhatova is a
specialist in the history of the Russian graphic arts and photography.
