I am writing my dissertation on the topic of nostalgia in the twentieth century Russian literature. Specifically, I am interested in the eschatological longing for afterlife in Andrei Platonov’s novel Chevengur, transcendental nominalism in the early poetry of Osip Mandelstam, and Bloomian anxiety of influence in the short stories and diaries of Andrei Bitov. In my upcoming project, I would like to explore the Soviet mythologies of inspiration.
