+cruz
Philippines / United States / Tokyo, Japan

+cruz is a director, art director, designer, and educator working in Tokyo. Born in the Philippines, an interest in Asian culture and commerce prompted him to reconnect with his roots and move to Japan. He creates work for public consumption in pursuit of work that is culturally relevant, at Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo, working with clients such as Aiwa, Nike Asia, W+K Tokyo Lab and Mori Building. Focused on the intersection between art, design, and digital narrative, his work reflects much of his personal experience in exploring hybrid media.

+cruz will present a body of work exploring the theme of identity, both personal and cultural through public and private space.

Takagi Masakatsu
Kyoto, Japan

Takagi Masakatsu's talent was initially discovered in the world of club music as the audio/visual creator of the Japanese electronic unit, "SILICOM", formed in 1999. Currently, Takagi is one of the most internationally noted Japanese artists leading a new breed of hybrid artists, fusing music, video and contemporary art. Part of the post 80s Y-generation, Takagi makes full use of technology, simultaneously synthesizing both music and visual production processes, from shooting to editing all on his own. Futuristic, impulsive and ephemeral, Takagi’s work responds to the moment, showing a nostalgic freshness that reflects personal experience. Most recently, he collaborated with David Sylvian on his European tour, as both a musician and visual artist. Unconstrained by existing boundaries, his works show both the strength and creativity of Japanese Modern Hybrid.

In his North American debut, Takagi will show selects from his CD/DVD work : World is So Beautiful and Journal For People.
