VIEW PROJECT . www.chriskev.com/dotring/
Designed to undermine the perception that entropic forces drive the diversity of the living world this web project endows the user with the Œgod-like¹ power to generate, mate, and regenerate individual ¹creatures¹, and to alter entire populations. In addition to informing the user about the ordered system that underlies genetic inheritance Dot Recessive, Ring Dominant also provokes questions about the impact of current scientific process and practices. As Chan posits: ŒWhat will be the effect of subjecting an entire population to the whims of a single human being?¹
Currently completing his final year as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Chan began his studies in the biological sciences before pursuing a degree in Digital Media Design. His current projects explore the aesthetic possibilities of logic-based systems and time-based processes through a combination of programming and animation.
