After leaving Korea to study in the United States a young man receives a letter from home. Written by an elderly friend the letter relates her devastating experience as a euphemistically named ŒComfort Woman¹, forced into sexual slavery by Japanese soldiers during World War II. The young man¹s acute emotional response impels him to further investigate this deeply personal tragedy, and, utilizing the form of a docu-drama, to place it in a historical and political context.
In addition to She is Not a Public Restroom Jongwoo Lim has written, directed and animated a number of CGI works, including: Unexpected Development (2000), Learning Her Language (2001), and Impulse of her Animus (2001). Having completed an MFA in Computer Animation at the Rochester Institute of Technology, he is currently an MFA student of Film and Television Production at the University of Southern California.
