TRAVEL

(In case the map shows up unclear, the big black blob is Denver, Colorado and from there, take Highway 36 North followed by Highway 7. If you're driving from the west, get on Highway 34 East followed by Highway 7)
ARRANGEMENTS: FLYING TO DENVER
You
will want to fly to Denver International Airport (DIA). This is our
(infamous)
new airport, so if you have been to Denver before, it will not
be
the same this time!
If you wish, Professional Travel Corporation (PTC)
will assist you in
making flight arrangements to Denver utilizing special
discounted airfares
on United Airlines. All reservations must be made and
tickets issued a
minimum 14
days in advance of departure. Tickets will be mailed directly
to you.
For
reservations call PTC Meetings Desk at 1-800-333-6338 or (303)488-0570
for
special airfares. Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.,
MST.
Please identify yourself as attending the Photorefractive Materials,
Effects,
and Devices Conference or PR '95.
TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS: GETTING TO
ASPEN LODGE
Aspen Lodge is about 2 hours by car from Denver International
Airport.
Your choices are
the Charles Limousine Service or to rent a car. If you
wish to rent a car,
let me know and I will fax you driving instructions
along with a map, with
the hope that the faxed map comes out clearly.
Charles Limousine Service
leaves for ESTES PARK at the following times:
10:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, 2:00
p.m. 4:00 p.m, and 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, they
have additional departure times
of 11:00 a.m., 1:00 a.m, and 3:00 p.m. I
strongly recommend that you make
reservations by calling (970)
586-5151.
The limousine service will deposit you directly at Aspen Lodge, which
is
about 10 minutes or so from the town of Estes Park. The cost is $28.00,
which
you can pay over the phone with a credit card. You can also arrange
for
a round-trip at a somewhat discounted $48.00. You must cancel 48 hours
in
advance if your plans change, otherwise there is a cancellation fee.
You
will find the Limousine Service on the East side of Terminal Level 5.
As
I understand it, you go
through door 5-11 through to the atrium where
there is a waiting area.
TRAVEL
ARRANGEMENTS: ASPEN LODGE TO THE DENVER AIRPORT
The limousine
service can also provide the return trip to DIA. The formal
departure times
from ESTES PARK are 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:30
a.m., 1:30 p.m.,
and 4:00 p.m. HOWEVER, to leave from Aspen Lodge you need
to be ready to leave
ONE-HALF HOUR earlier.
In addition to the regular times, there will
be chartered service to travel
on
Wednesday evening. The bus will leave at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $28.00
**and
you must make reservations** so that we know the size of bus to
arrange.
TRAVEL
ARRANGEMENTS: FLYING OUT OF DENVER
Note again
that it takes about two hours to travel from Aspen Lodge to
Denver International
Airport, or somewhat longer during the rush hours. I
presume most of you
will be leaving sometime on Thursday, June 15th. If
your flight leaves after
9:00 a.m. or so on Thursday,
then I recommend that
you stay at Aspen Lodge and take one of the early limousines.
If your
flight leaves early in the morning, then I recommend that
you take the
limousine service Wednesday evening to a hotel near the Denver
Airport so
you do not have to worry about timing in the morning. Alternatively,
you
may want to spend your "spare" time, if you have it, in
Boulder and enjoy
the downtown area. We have a very pleasant, sometimes colorful,
pedestrian
walk area
downtown. There are also numerous restaurants of all sorts.
Boulder is about
an hour from the airport, and is on the way from Aspen
Lodge to DIA anyway.
From Boulder you can take the Boulder Airporter, a
limousine service to
DIA serving the Boulder area. Their number is
(303)444-0808.
For
administrative
assistance, you may wish to speak with Dana Anderson's secretary Lynn Hogan
at (303)492-1128. The Fax number is (303) 492-5504.
