Established
in 1920, the USC School of Social Work was the first in
the West to offer a full-time professional social work
curriculum and training for clinical social workers. Today,
our nationally accredited Master
of Social Work (MSW) program is the largest in California
and consistently ranks among the nation's top 10 in U.S.
News & World Report.
USC is home to the oldest social work doctoral program in the West, founded in 1953 to develop new scholars and leaders for the profession. More than 200 graduates of the program hold positions as deans, professors, researchers, administrators, consultants and advanced practitioners in the United States and abroad.
We also created the world's first Nurse Social
Work Practitioner option, a transdisciplinary educational
model enabling nurses to pursue study in both health and
social services and earn a specialized master of social
work degree and case management certificate.
