International Programming Assistant. We have six IPAs this academic year, and please click the right image to learn about us!
What do we do?
The IPAs are in charge of student programs that are offered by the Office of International Services. The programs that are offered are Thanksgiving Match-up, LA Today, State of the World Seminar, World Café, and, Diners' Club. You can get detailed descriptions of all these programs from the links below the calendar. All these programs are designed to help international students become more accommodated to the US and the unique culture it has to offer. The programs also provide a great opportunity for students of all different backgrounds to come together and socialize in a very laid-back, casual environment. |

What do we have to say about being IPAs?
It’s been so great so far! The IPA position shows that work doesn’t always have to be boring! This job is a great learning experience for future endeavors that may come next. The IPAs feel that they have met some really great people because of this job and that the OIS is an amazing office to work in.
How do you go about applying to become an IPA?
Firstly, to become an IPA you have to apply to become an Orientation Group Leader for International Students, which is just like being an orientation advisor but for international students. Applications come out in the start/middle of the Spring semester. Once you have completed your time as an Orientation Group Leader you can thereafter apply to become an IPA! |
