Tsunamis in Southern California

The USC Tsunami Research Group is presently working on a series of tsunami inundation maps for southern California. They are doing this by simulating various potential tsunami sources and evaluating their potential impact. The project is entering its final stages. We will present complete results here when it is all done. For now, enjoy the following animation. A simulation of a tsunami generated by a 7.6 magnitude earthquake on a fault underlying the Channel Islands south of Santa Barbara.
