 8/24/99 11:00 AM: There was strong tsunami evidence here. The residents reported that the wave came up and over the beach, a sea wall and flowed into an empty swimming pool. There was a lot of debris on the shore and in flower beds. They also reported a leading depression wave that withdrew about 25 m. The toilets and sinks in the houses were backflushed as the wave came in, indicating flooding of the septic system. Several small boats were pulled out to sea and two are still missing. Also two wooden benches washed up on the beach. Residents reported that the wave approach was from the SE. They also noted 15 - 20 cm of permanent sea level rise relative to the small pier, indicating local subsidence. Measured runup, 1.6 m.

The water flowed up and over the sea wall and into a swimming pool.
