The European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) is a non-profit academic organization that forms part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). Located in the U.K. (Users in the U.S. users may prefer to use NCBI GenBank site for sequence retrieval). EBI manages databases of biological data including nucleic acid, protein sequences and macromolecular structures. It collaborates with GenBank and the DNA Database of Japan. New and updated entries are exchanged between the groups.
