Latino: Bancos Bibliograficos Latinoamericanos y de El CaribeMexico's Colima University and UNESCO have launched the online version of the LATINO project of bibliographic databases of Latin America and the Caribbean area. The portal gathers 114 databases with bibliographic descriptions from libraries of institutions in 14 countries of the region: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. Data from Spain are also available. The databases cover topics ranging from agriculture and rural development to medical and scientific collections, to databases on publications concerning regional issues. UNESCO has long been involved in linking libraries and library databases from all over the world. One of its most recent projects has been the creation of the UNESCO Library Portal, to enhance access to information related to library resources available on the World Wide Web as well as to issues affecting librarianship. The Library Portal presently provides almost 10,000 links to websites of libraries and information centers around the world. It is intended to be an interactive point for browsing and searching on-line resources about library issues. Holdings: varies
