Mark Bielak is the director of the Multimedia University Academy (MUA) which
is a part of USC Civic and Community Relations. Since 1997, Mark has been
administering programs that teach multimedia and computer software skills to
different members of the community. This includes small business people and
individuals at risk for poverty. These programs have been funded by grants from:
The National Science Foundation, the Department of Housing and Urban
Development, the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, and others. Mark
is also the president of the New Media University Academy, a company which is
funded by a grant from the City of Los Angeles to provide computer training for
young people age 1821.
Previously, Mark taught in and administered programs in animation and video
production. He held the position of general chair of the International Student
Media Festival for two years. Mark holds a master's degree from Northwestern
University in Interdepartmental Speech, and a bachelor's degree with honors from
Michigan State University in Communication Education. Mark is the author of
Television Production Today, a video production text book used in many schools.
Prior to this, he founded a wholesale distribution company, which he operated
from 1974 to 1986. Mark also founded and directed a theater company and has
performed in fifteen plays and directed fifteen plays. |
