Mercado La Paloma

Mission Science
An after-school program that teaches science, engineering and technology. (Partners: USC School of Engineering and USC partners school at UPC and HSC)

Peace Games
A school-wide violence prevention program that teaches elementary school students to be peacemakers through interactive games and community-service projects. (Partners: USC Joint Educational Project and Norwood Street Elementary School)

Robotics –STEM
Develops and implements an after-school robotics program. Hands-on, experiential, inquiry-based learning makes STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) topics appealing to students of all ages. (Partners: USC Viterbi School of Engineering and St. Agnes Parish School)

Summer Academic Enrichment Program
Extends to C-Track students their own four-week summer enrichment session, including a two-week residential component at USC.(Partners: USC Educational Opportunity Programs Center and Foshay Learning Center)

Technology Advancement Program

"University Park Family" Newspaper

USC African American Pen Pal Program
Using a unique cultural and linguistic approach, students learn about written examination and how to develop a theme or topic—all within SAT time constraints. (Partners: USC Joint Educational Project, 32nd Street/USC MAST K–12, Foshay Learning Center, Manual Arts High School and St. Agnes Parish School)

USC Community Computing Program
The computing center provides bilingual, low-to-no-cost training in the fundamentals of computer use. Graduates of its programs receive a refurbished PC. (Partners: USC Community Education Academy, USC Community Computing Center and USC Family of Schools)

USC Family of Schools Facilitators
Funds part-time, on-site coordinators of UNO programs at five public schools. (Partners: USC Civic and Community Relations, and five of the USC Family of Schools)

USC Film in Education
Teaches students about filmmaking and culminates with a screening of their films. Noted film directors serve as mentors. (Partners: USC Student Film Foundation, USC School of Cinema-Television and Manual Arts High School)

USC NAI Saturday Academy

USC Neighborhood Mobile Dental Clinic
Mobile dental clinic visits local schools with new dental compressor and other equipment. (Partners: USC School of Dentistry and USC Family of Schools)

USC ReadersPlus
USC work-study students provide reading and math assistance to children. (Partners: USC Joint Educational Project and USC Family of Schools)

USC Street Law Foundation Program
USC law students teach inner-city high school students about legal literacy, respect for law and its institutions, and offer counsel and advice about higher education. (Partners: USC Gould Law School and Manual Arts High School)

USC Thornton Jazz Reach
Instruction and rehearsals to build a big-band jazz program. (Partners: USC Thornton School of Music, Jazz Studies Program, 32nd Street/USC MAST K–12, Foshay Learning Center and Manual Arts High School)

USC Music in Education/Guitar Masters
Programs bring after-school music education programs into schools. Instruction includes keyboard, percussion, strings and winds to vocal instruction, ensembles, general musicianship and GuitarMasters. In-service training for teachers is also offered. USC Troy Camp
