Atlas of USC Neighborhoods: People and Community
The "Atlas of USC Neighborhoods: People and Community" provides a detailed profile of the communities that surround USCs two campuses, reveals details of their changing demographics, and makes it possible to anticipate future trends. The information is presented in tables, maps and graphs.
It has been prepared as an effort to better understand the communities that surround the University of Southern California's two campusesthe University Park Campus (UPC) and Health Sciences Campus (HSC). Using data from the 1990 and 2000 U.S. Censuses, information on population, ethnicity, education, household information (income, language, size, etc.), mobility, employment, housing and more is included here.
This atlas is designed to serve as a valuable resource for those who want to know more about the dynamic communities that make up a segment of the population surrounding the downtown area of Los Angeles. USC faculty, students and staff can use the information in their research, studies and work. But the university's neighbors and partners will also find the information useful. These include educational, cultural and religious institutions; political leaders; community-based organizations; businesses; social service agencies; and many others.
Special thanks to faculty advisor, geography professor Curtis C. Roseman; research associate/editor, Hyunsun Choi; and all others who made this report possible.
