Foreword

In 2004, USC Civic and Community Relations (USC CCR) released its "Atlas of USC Neighborhoods Vol. 1: People and Community." That report took a close look at demographic information - primarily based on U.S. Census data - that revealed much about the communities and the people who live and work in the areas surrounding USC's two campuses. I know that many of you found that information revealing and useful.

To add to that study, USC CCR now releases a new report that continues this in-depth examination of our neighborhoods. "Atlas of USC Neighborhoods Vol. 2: Outreach and Institutions" looks into other areas of interest. Along with the first volume, it complements our inventory of community assests.

The atlas presents listings and maps on the many cultural, historic, religious and other resources and institutions found in the neighborhoods that surround the University Park and Health Sciences campuses. It also explores some of USC's key community outreach programs such as the USC Family of Schools, HSC Partner Schools Task Force, Kid Watch and the USC Neighborhood Academic Initiative.

I am sure you will find the information presented in the "Atlas of USC Neighborhoods Vol. 2: Outreach and Institutions" of great value. I urge you to keep this atlas as a handy reference; you will find it informative and useful.
