Grants Committee 2008-2009

The grants committee, comprised of 12 university faculty and staff from both campuses, allocates the USC Neighborhood Outreach funds raised through the Good Neighbors Campaign. The committee requests collaborative proposals from USC employees, academic units and community programs each January.

After an extensive review and evaluation process, proposals are selected based on community impact, cost-effectiveness, volunteer involvement and measurable progress toward achieving one or more university-community objectives. Proposals must be submitted in partnership with a nonprofit, community-based organization that operates and has a home base within specific geographic boundaries.

Awards are announced each Spring and funds are distributed to the community partner. Unallocated funds are held in an interest-bearing account. Since issuing the first request for proposals in January 1995, USC Neighborhood Outreach has funded 328 proposals.
