Before coming in for the comprehensive evaluation, every client is asked to complete a detailed health history questionnaire. The executive health physician uses this questionnaire to determine which specific health assessments are appropriate and to recommend a schedule for the clients visit.
The basic USC Executive Health Exam is available for $1,350 and includes:
Complete Exam A full physical exam with an executive health physician, including a review of medical and family history. The physician will discuss any existing conditions, identify risk factors, and address the clients questions or concerns.
Audiogram This exam tests hearing ability by recording the softest sounds that an individual can hear. The test is used to detect early signs of hearing loss.
Resting Electrocardiogram (EKG) This test examines the electrical activity of the heart to help identify cardiac irregularities. During an electrocardiogram, small metal discs called electrodes are attached to the skin on the chest. The electrodes are also connected to a machine that translates the electrical activity into tracings on paper. These tracings are carefully reviewed.
Spirometry This test is the most common of the pulmonary function tests. For a spirometry test, the patient is asked to take the deepest breath they can, and then to exhale forcefully into a sensor for as long as possible. This test is used to assess lung function and to screen for pulmonary disease.
Vision and Glaucoma Test This exam tests visual acuity. Glaucoma is also screened for using tonometry, a painless procedure that measures pressure inside the eye.
The following laboratory tests are also included in the basic package:
Blood Chemistry Panel This broad-spectrum blood test is used to analyze electrolytes and organ function. It includes the glucose level and a cholesterol profile to aid in determining the risk of coronary heart disease.
Body Composition Analysis Body composition is the amount of fat versus lean muscle tissue in the human body. The Tanita body composition analyzer measures weight, body mass index, fat mass, lean body mass, total body water, and basal metabolic rate, and provides an individualized desirable fat mass range. The scale uses a weak electrical impulse that travels up one leg and down the other (this requires skin contact points with the scale foot plates). The impedance of this impulse determines body composition since muscle and water act as conductors while adipose tissue (fat mass) acts as a resistor.
Complete Blood Count The complete blood count is used as a broad screening test to check for such disorders as anemia and infection. A blood sample is taken and tested for such factors as white blood cell count, red blood cell count, and platelet count.
HbA1c This blood test is used to screen for diabetes.
Lipid Profile - The lipid profile is a group of blood tests used to aid in determining risk of coronary heart disease.
Stool Guaiac This test detects the presence of hidden blood in the gastrointestinal tract and can be used to screen for bowel disease and colon cancer.
Thyroid Profile This blood test is used to screen for and help diagnose thyroid disorders.
Urinalysis Physicians use urinalysis to screen for metabolic and
kidney disorders as well as urinary tract infections. The test requires
one to two ounces of urine.
