Home Visit Program

As advances in medical technology is helping seniors live longer, the Geriatric specialists at USC are finding new ways to help seniors maintain their quality of life. Central to this quality of life is the ability to live in ones’ own home rather than a long term care facility such as a nursing home. However as many seniors become unable to venture away from their home because of declining physical conditioning, access to vital health care becomes increasingly difficult. Consequently the Geriatric specialists of USC have been bringing vital medical care to seniors through their innovative USC Home Visit Program. This program is designed for homebound seniors for whom visiting a physician’s clinic for medical care is a strenuous physical challenge. At your request, a geriatrician and a geriatric nurse specialist will visit you at your home and be able to manage your medical issues, call in prescriptions to your pharmacy, obtain blood samples for testing, coordinate care with a home health agency, assess home safety, help obtain in home supportive services, and much more. This team of specialists is supported by a full medical staff that you would expect from a prestigious academic medical institution.
