Dr. Peters has been in practice for 16 years. Her areas of interest are prevention and treatment of diabetes, utilization of the newest treatments and technologies to provide the best patient care taking advantage of lifestyle change, such as nutrition and exercise to lower the risk for heart disease and diabetes complications. Dr. Peters says that "although we can not yet cure diabetes, we can treat it very effectively. Most patients don't get good care for their diabetes. We make sure our patients do."
Dr. Peters helped Olympic swimmer Gary Hall Jr., win gold medals in the Sydney and Athens Olympics, by optimizing his diabetes treatment. One out of three children born in the year 2000 will develop diabetes in their lifetime, and many are developing diabetes as children and young adults. This is a marked increase from 1957 when one out of 12 children would develop diabetes in their lifetime. If diabetes develops at age 20 a person can lose 17 years off their life expectancy. With proper treatment I can give you those 17 years back.
Dr. Peters has a new book for patients with diabetes - Conquering Diabetes. You may read about it here on Amazon.com.
