How Can I Donate Blood for My Friend or Relative?
Donating blood for a friend or relative is called a directed donation.
A doctor's order is required and the donor must meet all the requirements of a regular volunteer blood donor. With special permission, however, a directed donor can donate more frequently than regular volunteer donor.
A husband may not donate blood for his wife when there is the chance of a future pregnancy.
