Garrick Staples began working with open source software in 1997, when he joined DirectNet, a small Los Angeles Internet service provider. During the dot.com era, he designed Web-hosting infrastructures at a variety of companies before becoming an independent security, database, and code analyst. Since 2001, he has been the Linux/HPCC administrator at USC.
