Account Resource Limits
The following tables outline the usage limits for specific account types.
Linux Computing Resource
Time on the Linux Computing Resource will be allocated in Node
Wall Clock Hours (NWCH). The use of 10 nodes for 3 hours is counted as 30 NWCH.
| Linux Allocation |
Maximum NWCH (per year) |
Application/Allocation Process |
| Small | 200 | Processed within two weeks |
| Large | No limit* | Proposal reviewed by Allocation Committee
|
Sun Computing Resource
Time on the SUN Computing Resource will be allocated in CPU Hours
(CPUH). One hour of CPU time on four processors is counted as four
CPUH. Each Sun Computing Resource user is limited to one job in
execution. However, each use may have an unlimited number of jobs in the
queue awaiting execution. Once the active job completes, the system will automatically start executing the next job in the queue.
| Sun Allocation |
Maximum CPU Time (per year) |
Application/Allocation Process |
| Small | 200 | Processed within two weeks |
| Large |
No limit* |
Proposal reviewed by Allocation Committee |
*Although there is no limit to the allocation that can
be requested, all proposals must include a specific limit for each
resource. Allocations also may be reduced to match the available
resources.
Scheduling Strategy
In general, jobs will be run (or be scheduled) on a
first-come, first-served basis within a queue, provided that adequate
resources are available. To maximize the use of computing resources,
HPCC management (in consultation with the HPCC allocation committee)
may restrict the number of jobs concurrently executed within a given account (Linux Computing Resource only).
