Linux Computing Resource (uschpc)

Systems & Access :: Learning to Use :: Linux Computing Resource

The Linux Computing Resource consists of 1,452 dual-processor nodes and 5 x 16 processor, 64GB, large memory servers, interconnected with Ethernet and 2GB Myrinet backbone, and a 1,280 quad-core/dual processor node cluster with Ethernet and a 10GB Myrinet backbone. Using the Linux Cluster Resource

The Linux cluster resource (uschpc) runs the USCLinux. You login to uschpc by ssh-ing to either hpc-login1, the 32bit head node, or hpc-login2, the 64bit head node. These are the only nodes you can login into directly. The head node should be used only for editing and compiling programs. Computing should be done on the compute nodes. The Portable Batch System (PBS) controls the use of the compute nodes.

A standard user environment includes the default shell (csh) and the given default .cshrc and .login files that source the master.cshrc and master.login files.
