
USC STAR Program educates children and their teachers from kindergarten through 12th grade about science, math and engineering and the unlimited potential of science and engineering to enrich not only their classroom learning but also their lives.

Dr. Roberta Diaz Brinton is a USC professor of molecular pharmacology and toxicology and an internationally recognized expert in the field of cellular, biochemical and genomic mechanisms underlying learning and memory. Professor Brinton holds a joint appointment in the departments of Pharmacology and Toxicology and Biomedical Engineering and is a founding member of the USC Neuroscience Program. She has volunteered as the USC STAR Program Director for 18 years.

STAR students mentor Murchison Elementary School Students.
STAR students pass on the scientific knowledge and mentoring they have received to Murchison Elementary School students by teaching them science, math and engineering as part of the BMES ERC Education Outreach Program.
STAR students tour NASA/California Institute of Technology Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
USC BMES ERC faculty member Dr. Wolfgang Fink gave STAR students an extended tour of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory facilities, including the mission control center and Mars simulation facilities.
