Los
Angeles County/USC Medical Center
The Los Angeles County/USC Medical
Center (LAC/USC-MC) is one of the largest regional medical centers
and teaching hospitals in the United States, consisting of four
major hospitals and several outpatient service facilities on one
campus. Unit I, the main hospital, houses over 2,000 beds (600
active) and is a Level I Trauma Center. 850 residents are in
full-time training under the guidance of 450 full-time faculty
members. There are 50,000 inpatients admitted and 750,000
outpatients visited annually at this medical center. In 2002, it has
also become the designated US Naval Trauma Training Center.
Our outpatient dental facility
recorded over 14,000 patient visits last year, consisting of all
aspects of outpatient procedures. The clinic is a wealth of study
cases as well as an avenue for valuable surgical experiences. This
pool of patients gives us the opportunity to evaluate and treat a
wide range oral and maxillofacial surgery problems.
USC
School of Dentistry
Established in 1897, the USC School
of Dentistry is a private professional school with a unique heritage
and an international reputation. The dental school provides to our
department professional contacts with all of our dental colleagues
(all graduate dental specialties are represented at USC). This
offers to us valuable contributions from other sectors and
disciplines of dentistry. Residents will have rotations at the
dental school performing dentoalveolar and implants procedures as
well as gaining intravenous sedation/anesthesia and teaching
experiences. The Department of Orthodontics is an integral part of
our training program providing a biweekly scheduled orthognathic
conference with our department.
USC
University Hospital
USC University Hospital is a private,
293-bed research and teaching hospital staffed by the attending
faculty of the USC Keck School of Medicine and the LAC/ USC Medical
Center. The hospital offers top medical expertise and sophisticated
technology. Patients receive personal care and access to some of the
most advanced technological services available at this comfortable
environment. Our senior residents participate in operating room
surgeries and other consultation services at this hospital. USC
University Hospital is poised for growth as it prepares for the
addition of a new 10-story tower, expected to open in 2004.
Long
Beach Memorial Medical Center
Long Beach Memorial Medical Center is
the second largest private hospital on the west coast. Now in its
90th year, the medical center is nationally recognized for
excellence in health care. A comprehensive medical campus, LBMMC
combines the resources of these major entities: Memorial Hospital;
Miller Children’s Hospital; Memorial Women’s Hospital; Memorial
Rehabilitation Hospital; Memorial Heart Institute and Memorial
Cancer Institute. Our department is one of the many surgical
services represented at this center. Our senior residents staff
mainly at the Miller Children’s Hospital during their rotation
there.
Children
Hospital of Los Angeles
Our service is part of the
craniofacial & cleft palate team at the Children Hospital of Los
Angeles. The team includes representatives from plastics surgery,
physical therapy, speech therapy, orthodontics and general
dentistry. Our senior residents gained surgical experiences in
reconstruction, orthognathics, pediatrics, pathology and
dentoalveolar at this facility.
Ranchos

centers in the nation. Our residents provide in house oral and
maxillofacial consultation services and surgical treatment. |
