Currently, 1 OMFS/GPR Internship position are offered by our department at the LAC+USC Medical
Center for dental graduates who are interested in pursuing a career
in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The duration of this internship
program is 12 months. Interns will have OMFS rotations (9 months) at
our outpatient dental clinic as well as the USC School of Dentistry.
The program will also include a minor component (3 months) of
general dentistry rotation at other off site facilities. Upon
completion of this program, interns will receive a GPR certificate
issued by the USC School of Dentistry. Interns will function similarly to 1st year residents on our service. They will take in
house calls like other residents and will participate in the daily
workups and management of our inpatients. They will have the
opportunity to participate in all didactic conferences and a variety
of operating room cases.
