Cedric Minkin
Ph.D.
Professor
School of Dentistry
The research interests of Dr. Minkin’s laboratory are
directed towards the cell and molecular biology of the osteoclast, a cell
thought to be involved in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis. Approximately 1.5
million cases of osteoporosis-related fractures are reported annually. He has
undertaken to combine traditional approaches of cell and developmental biology
with molecular biology approaches with the objective of characterizing the
molecular phenotype of the osteoclast and understanding the regulation of its
formation and function. Drs. Minkin and Snead and Minkin and Markland have
collaborated on studies of gene expression in isolated osteoclasts.
