Cheng-Ming Chuong

 M.D., Ph.D.

Professor

Keck School of Medicine
Department of Pathology

His laboratory is interested in the signaling molecules involved in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions. The major models he uses is the formation of skin appendages, mainly feather and hair using growth factors, homeobox genes and adhesion molecules to study the molecular cascade involved in this inductive process. He is also studying the molecular expression with in situ hybridization and then perturbing the expression using retroviral gene delivery and transgenic mouse technology. He has also started to work on transgenic mice in collaboration with Dr. R. Maxson.
