Ian S. Haworth
Ph.D.
Associate Professor
School of Pharmacy
Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences
His laboratory is interested in studying the interactions
between biological macromolecules and small ligands (both peptides and synthetic
ligands), using a combination of computer modeling and experimental approaches.
He has pursued studies of the dynamics of DNA conformational change, and how
this is influenced by the binding of ligands such as polyamines. He is also
interested in the propensity of certain DNA sequences (particularly those of a
repeating nature) to form stable, non-duplex, tertiary conformations. He is also
studying peptides that can act as inhibitors of transforming growth factor-beta.
