Homayoun H. Zadeh

D.D.S., Ph.D.

Assistant Professor

School of Dentistry

The main focus of his research is to determine the role of the immune response to periodontal pathogens in periodontitis. T lymphocytes are the main immuno-regulatory subset and they have been known to be involved in a number of diseases. However, their role in periodontal disease has not been studied to the same degree as other immune components such as neutrophils and antibody. Dr. Zadeh has concentrated on the response of T lymphocytes to periodontal pathogens in periodontitis using Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans and Porphyromonas in models of the immune response to these bacteria.
