Matthew K.  Lee

M.D.

Reseacher Assistant Professor

School of Dentistry
Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology

Dr. Lee is interested in the developmental signals provided by polypeptide growth factors in the regulation of branching in the developing lung. Dr. Lee collaborates with Dr. Warburton on several research projects. They have used antisense inhibition approaches to alter betaglycan molecules in an attempt to alter branching patterns for lung epithelia. Similarly, antisense abrogation of TGF signaling molecules, the Smads, have also been shown to alter lung morphogenesis. Dr. Lee has also pursued the paradoxical roles of EGF versus TGF in epithelial patterning during development.
