Objectives
Upon completion of the case study the learner will
be able to attain each of the following objectives.
- Define the terms early-onset periodontitis, localized juvenile
periodontitis, rapidly progressive periodontitis, generalized juvenile
periodontitis, generalized early-onset periodontitis, and incidental early-onset
periodontitis.
- Describe the clinical characteristics of LJP.
- Recognize alveolar changes on radiographs of defects resulting from
LJP.
- Discuss the known and suspected etiologic factors for LJP.
- Recommend a treatment protocol for the LJP case provided.
- Discuss recommendations for use of antibiotics in treatment of LJP.
- Select appropriate self care devices for the LJP case provided.
- Identify outcome measures to evaluate four to six weeks after initial
therapy.
