CONGRATULATIONS
  • Gerald Vale was named the American Academy of Forensic Sciences’ 2004 Distinguished Fellow recipient. Vale has served the Los Angeles County coroner’s office for the past 36 years, currenlty as senior forensic dental consultant. He is widely recognized as an expert in the field of forensic dentistry and testified in California’s first bitemark case, People vs. Marx.

    Vale has been a member of the School of Dentistry faculty for over thirty years. He was interim dean of the school from 1999-2000 and served as dental director of LAC/USC from 1978-2002.

Congratulations to all of the faculty members who participated in the 2004 ADEA Annual Session Exhibition in February!

  • Sandra Bolivar presented two poster abstracts entitled “The Case-Based Group Interview as a Pre-Admission Selection Tool” and “Dental Explorers Program: A Summer Program for Pre-College Students.”
     
  • Jane Forrest served as the principal coordinator for the faculty development workshop entitled “Enhancing Clinical Decisionmaking Through Evidence-Based Practice.”
     
  • Robert Keim was a co-presenter for a section program on orthodontics entitled “Choosing the Chosen: Selecting the Best Residents for Your Program.”
     
  • Joanne Mayne was the principal coordinator for the ADEA symposium entitled “Keys to Successful Fundraising: Your Survival Depends on It!.”
     
  • Niel Nathason was a presenter for the workshop entitled “The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Dental Grantees: Best Practices.”
     
  • Gene Sekiguchi participated in the first ever “Panel of Presidents” during the opening ceremony and plenary session of the convention held on March 6 and was one of the presenters for the ADEA symposium on education, access, licensure and postdoctoral education.
     
  • Charles Shuler was a presenter for the section program on clinical simulation and pedagogy.
     
  • Eileen Suffet and Larry Eisenberg presented a poster abstract entitled “Centralizing Faculty Credentialing Documentation.”
