Accessing electronic information resources licensed to USC just became easier. The libraries have implemented a proxy server that provides access to restricted resources for USC faculty, staff and students who are not connecting from the USC network.
Simply click on a resource from the Norris Medical Library, Wilson Dental Library, or the USC Libraries web site. If you are not connected to the USC network or running VPN you will link to a login page. Enter your USC computer account user name and password, and you will be redirected to the resource you requested. This authorization continues until you close the web browser or are idle for 90 minutes.
VPN continues to provide a more secure method of connecting to USC resources and is especially recommended for those using USC wireless.
UpToDate can be accessed only on campus and is not available through the proxy server. If you are using USC wireless or are located at the LAC+USC Medical Center, USC University Hospital, the Norris Cancer Hospital, or the Doheny Eye Institute and are logged into the proxy server, close your web browser and start a new session before linking to UpToDate.
Ovid continues to require users to log in through the Ovid@USC page. In addition, some restricted resources require special user names and passwords. If you are having trouble accessing a resource, check the Accessing eResources page for advice.
If you have problems or comments, please contact John Glueckert, Wilson Dental Library, at (213) 740-1439 or at wdl@usc.edu.
