The USC Department of Career and Protective Services has revised the guidelines for radiation safety and dental radiographs. While the revisions are relatively minor, all faculty, staff and students working in dental school clinics should take a moment and familiarize themselves with the guidelines. The School of Dentistry has taken another step toward an entirely paperless patient chart with the incorporation of endodontic and periodontal referrals in the axiUm patient management software. The paper "sticker" referrals will no longer be utilized. Faculty must now approve all advance specialty referrals by swiping their cards into the axiUm system. If faculty approval has not been obtained, an appointment will not be scheduled. For step-by-step instructions to refer a patient in axiUm, click here (link to PDF).
