* Joe Field, DDS Class of 2008, is a busy man. In addition to being named vice-chair of the ADEA Council of Students, Field has been appointed to the ADEA's Presidential Task Force for Meetings and Conferences; was recently made president-elect of the Student Research Group; was named co-president of the Alpha Omega dental fraternity; was appointed student director of Ayuda; and will take over as president of the Academic Dentistry Organization here at the School of Dentistry. Congratulations, now get some rest. * The Health Sciences Libraries honored the Wilson Dental Library’s Sylvia Flores with the Outstanding Staff Recognition Award. The award is given annually to a staff member who has gone above and beyond in carrying out their duties. Flores has been at the School of Dentistry since 1997. * The School of Dentistry was well represented at this year’s American Dental Education Association and American Association for Dental Research's joint Annual Session and Exhibition in Orlando. Senior doctoral dental student Chad Foster was elected chair of the Council of Students and junior Joe Field was named vice-chair. Field was also honored as ADEA Regional Representative of the Year for his work as the Pacific Region's student representative. Faculty members Yang Chai and Jorgen Slots served as keynote speakers. Chai was keynote speaker for the AADR’s craniofacial biology section, and Slots addressed the viral pathogens and periodontitis section.
