USC Faculty shared their knowledge with reporters across the country—as they took part in interviews for international radio, television, local newspapers, health magazines and on-line health sites during the month of September.

Here is a snapshot of the media outlets that helped us to get our message out about the importance of oral health as it relates to keeping the body healthy.

The Connection between Oral Cancer and Oral Sex.... Dr. Roseanne  Mulligan, Carlos  Sanchez, senior Dental Hygiene Program and Dr. Jaqueline Venturin fellow for the Special Needs Clinic were quoted.

Dr  Parish Sedghizadeh  discussed results of a study tied to Oral Cancer and African American woman for the Magazine  Heart and Soul..

Dr. Hessam Nowzari shared his insight on the use of lasers in dentistry for the Business section of the Orange County Register.

Dr. Jennifer Holtzman discussed pregnancy and dental care for the magazine Pregnancy that will hit newsstands in January.

Dr. Songtao Shi received international attention for his research on the use of stem cells in tendons and the potential to treat tendon injury in the future.  He conducted interviews with German Public Radio that carried the interview across Europe and the The Asian American Press.

Dr.Shi’s work on the use of stem cells to regenerate tissue in order to grow teeth was profiled in the September issue of Readers Digest.

Various LA media outlets profiled the “Teeny Teeth” Program that offered free screenings for low income children in Pasadena on Monday, September 24-th.  This is one of the many projects tied to the School of Dentistry Community Health Programs.
