CONGRATULATIONS
Distinguished Professor
Emeritus Clifton O. Dummett was honored with a certificate
of appreciation by the State of Tennessee on August 18.
Dummett, who became the youngest dental dean in history when
he accepted the post at the Meharry Medical College School of
Dentistry in 1947, was commended for his vision and dedication
to the school and state.
In conferring the award,
Governor Phil Bredesen stated:
“Your views and life long
efforts to bring racial harmony and equality to the health
professions and American society are to be commended and held
up as an example to others.”
