Who can use the GCRC?

Any USC faculty member conducting an IRB approved clinical research project.  Resources are allocated according to availability, using the following hierarchy:

  1. Projects funded by NIH
  2. Pilot projects to generate data for an NIH application
  3. Peer-review projects funded by non-profit foundations and organizations (e.g. American Cancer Society, American Heart Association)
  4. Projects supported by pharmaceutical companies

    If you are not sure where your project fits into this hierarchy, call us -- we will be happy to discuss it with you.

What Does it cost to use the GCRC?

No charge for:

  • NIH funded projects
  • NIH pilot studies
  • Peer-review foundation projects

Charges for:

  • Pharmaceutical-supported research
  • Molecular Medicine Core Lab (cost-sharing)
    Call the GCRC office for a cost projection on your project before you submit your budget

How do I apply to use the GCRC?

  • Call the GCRC office at (323)226-4632 and ask for a protocol application
  • Complete and submit the application form
  • Our protocol review process typically takes 2 weeks
