Sun Safety

July is Ultraviolet Safety Month. When picking a sunscreen for your summer outing, you should pick a broad spectrum sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays, says David Peng, M.D., M.P.H., director of the melanoma clinic at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and assistant professor of clinical dermatology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He recommends buying products with titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, as they are the most effective blockers of UVA and UVB rays.
