Aspirin Advantage?

A daily regimen of aspirin has been found to be beneficial to some people in preventing heart attack and stroke. Now, associate professor Songtao Shi, D.D.S., Ph.D., and research associate Takayoshi Yamaza, D.D.S., Ph.D., of the USC School of Dentistry’s Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology, say it may also help battle against osteoporosis. They recently studied mice that, after receiving a daily dose of aspirin, had an increase in bone density over time. “We have opened a door,” Shi says. “We hope other scientists can confirm what we’ve found and move the treatment forward.”
