Bozicks Support Cancer Research with Funds and Fruit
Bobbie and Mike Bozick have supported important cancer research at the USC/Norris over the past few years, as well as being life-long supporters of the university’s athletic programs.

The Bozicks’ recent gift of $25,000 arrived along with eight cases of fresh, premium strawberries. The Bozicks grow, ship and distribute various fruits throughout the world. USC/Norris staff anticipate the arrival of the fresh “out of the fields” oranges, tangerines and grapes sent seasonally by the Bozicks.


Second Annual Cancer Recognition Week
USC/Norris designated the last week of March as the 2nd Annual Cancer Recognition Week. During the week, friends of USC/Norris celebrated the life of a survivor who has been touched by cancer or honored the memory of loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer.


Nearly 100 honorees’ names were added to the Tree of Life located in the USC/Norris lobby.


10th Annual Scott Parker Golf Classic
The 10th Annual Scott Parker Golf Classic will take place Aug. 25, 2003 at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks. The event is in memory of Scott D. Parker, son of Ron and Jodi Parker, who died in 1990 after a two-year battle with cancer. Last year’s event raised nearly $100,000, which was added to the more than $1 million already donated to cancer research at USC/Norris. Laraneta Honored
Ron Laraneta, USC alumnus and USC/Norris donor, was honored at the NFL Gridiron Glamour event prior to Super Bowl XXXVIII. Laraneta was chosen as the honoree because of his commitment and dedication to USC and USC/Norris throughout the years.


Gridiron Glamour raised nearly $40,000 this year for breast cancer research. USC/Norris was chosen as the national recipient of funds raised by the NFL-recognized annual event.


Revlon Run/Walk
More than 60,000 people participated in the 2003 Revlon Run/Walk for Women at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to raise money for and awareness of breast cancer.


Created in 1993, the Revlon Run/Walk for Women has grown
to become one of the nation’s largest 5K fundraising events, raising more than $15 million since it began. USC/Norris has received $195,000 to date from the event, with the Harold E. and Henrietta C. Lee Breast Center being one of the beneficiaries this year.

Ashworth Inc. Supports Cancer Research

GM Car Raffle Winner
The USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center raffle for a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe LS raised $31,500 for cancer research. The Tahoe was donated by General Motors as part of the company’s Cancer Research Scholars Program.


The winning ticket was selected at the Norris Board Meeting on Jan. 23, 2003. The winner was Donald Larsen, M.D., professor of neurological surgery at the Keck School of Medicine.


Palm Restaurant Celebrity Event
On April 28, 2003, 150 friends of USC/Norris enjoyed an evening at the Palm Restaurant on Santa Monica Boulevard that included cocktails and dinner served by celebrities, including Bob Saget, Ryan Seacrest, Pat O’Brien, Gabriele Carteris, Suzanne Pleshette and Robert Evans. The event included door prizes and live auction items such as four tickets to “A New Day” featuring Celine Dion, dinner for four at the Las Vegas Palm and breakfast for two once a week for a year at Nate n’ Al’s Deli. A portion of the $50,000 raised at the event goes to the Gigi DelMaestro Memorial Fund at USC/Norris.


Fiesta of the Spanish Horse
Fiesta of the Spanish Horse at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center from May 2-4, 2003 celebrated the heritage of a variety of beautiful Spanish Blood horses. The May 3 evening event was a magnificent extravaganza of horses, roping, drill teams, Latin and Mariachi music, dancers, vendors, food and more. More than 5,000 people attended this year. All proceeds raised benefit USC/Norris.
