When you need a physician, the last thing you want to do is scramble for a phone number. A new Doctors of USC Web site ensures that patients will never wonder where to find their doctor’s contact information.

The Web site, www.DoctorsofUSC.com, is a new portal for the medical faculty practice of the Keck School of Medicine of USC. It features user-friendly search options for patients to find the right doctor from a broad range of renowned Keck School physicians. Patients can search from the roster by specialty, location or language. Once a physician is selected, the biographical information and credentials are displayed, and patients can request an appointment.
“This site is the centerpiece of our current marketing efforts for the Doctors of USC,” says Jane Brust, associate senior vice president for USC health sciences public relations and marketing. “One of our goals is to introduce our physicians and our campus to consumers—many of whom have never been here—through the use of documentary-style videos. The site also features health news and information to entice site visitors to return again and again.”

The site is more than just a search engine for doctors. With a health library containing more than 30,000 articles on topics ranging from allergies to diabetes and bariatric surgery to lung transplants, consumers can find any information they need in one place. Users also can stay current with frequently updated news and additional health tips.

The “My Health” portal offers users several tools to personalize their experience online. Patients can join support groups to post their thoughts, issues and concerns. With their personal calendar of events, users can manage their support group activities and their appointment schedules. Physician profiles can be posted to these personal pages, so patients are always just a click away from requesting an appointment with their doctors. News feeds can be added with breaking health news from some of the Web’s top health news sources.

Several documentary-style videos introduce USC’s clinical enterprise and allow users to see The Doctors of USC and their patients in action. Shorter videos called “Medical Minutes” show physicians offering health advice related to their various specialties.

“Navigating the health care system can be challenging,” says Minor Anderson, president and CEO of The Doctors of USC. “Our goal was to make it simple for patients to find a doctor, make an appointment and learn about the quality work done by our USC physicians.”
