Electronic resources licensed by the Health Sciences Libraries and
the USC Libraries are available only to USC faculty, staff, and students.
Most resources verify your USC affiliation through your IP address.
LAC+USC Medical Center and CHLA employees have access to some resources
as described through the links below.
Check your IP address at http://www.whatismyip.com
to determine if you are connecting through a USC address. Anyone
with an address beginning with 128.125 should be able to connect to
USC resources directly without problems.
If you are located in one of the affiliated hospitals, at home, or
in some other location away from the USC network, the remote access
portal login page should appear when you click on any restricted resource.
Simply enter your USC computer account username and password to establish
yourself as a valid USC user. You should only need to do this once until
you close your browser window or unless you leave your computer idle
for more than 90 minutes.
VPN is no longer required because it provides a higher level of security
than is necessary when accessing library information resources. However,
VPN is still recommended when using wireless laptops since the USC wireless
network is an open network allowing sensitive information, such as usernames
and passwords, to be seen by others.
Use the following information if you still have trouble accessing
any of the library's eResources. Select the appropriate user affiliation
below for further instructions.
