Accessing Licensed eResources:

FAQ for CHLA Employees Who Don't Qualify for USC Computer Accounts

I used to be able to connect to USC resources from within the hospital, now I can’t. What’s changed?

Affective January 4, 2010,  we have had to restrict access to the library’s resources to USC faculty, staff, students, and residents only in order to comply with our licenses. Qualified USC users at CHLA will now need to log into the Remote Access Portal to access licensed resources.

CHLA employees do not qualify for USC computer accounts, so you no longer have access from home, other remote sites or from within CHLA.

CHLA employees still have access to several Ovid databases (including MEDLINE), electronic books, and electronic journals that have been licensed by CHLA.  Simply go to the Ovid access page at http://www.usc.edu/ovid and click on the “Start Ovid” button for CHLA employees.

Additionally the librarian at CHLA is available to do database searches and provide citations and abstracts.  Articles can be requested online using the Interlibrary Loan Form or with the paper form available in the library.
