Accessing Licensed eResources:

FAQ for LAC+USC Employees Who Don't Qualify for USC Computer Accounts

I used to be able to get to your databases and journals, but now I can’t.

  • With the implementation of the USC remote access portal in April 2007, USC is now able to better manage our licensing agreements that restrict usage to USC users. Previously, anyone at the LAC+USC Medical Center could access many of our resources, but the remote access portal now allows access only to those with USC computer accounts.
  • You can still access Ovid MEDLINE through the Ovid@USC gateway by selecting the appropriate button and still have access from within Ovid to most of the full-text journals that the Health Sciences Libraries licenses.
  • Most Medical Center employees qualify for library cards at the Norris Medical Library, so you can access these licensed resources if you come to the library.

I still want to talk to someone about the problem I’m having.
